It's Go Time

To Martin + Osa. I am sad to see this concept store from American Eagle bite the dust. Because I have a personal hurdle of spending more than $80 for jeans, I was thrilled to find a ton of styles and washes at Martin + Osa that I love. The day I went in there with my tall drink of water friend Kellyn and we were both able to find jeans that we loved, I knew this place had a plethora of styles I am sure to miss. See what jeans, tanks, and all sorts of other beauts are on sale before we must say farewell to a store I was sure hoping would last longer than this as the Northpark store closes next Saturday, the 25th. You can also receive 50% off your purchase online before they close their online shop on Wednesday. The stores were beautiful and the salespeople were terrific. Farewell.

Let me know what you find!

Remember, No Sex In The Champagne Room

....but more importantly, other life advice that my BFF Katie sent to me last night. Just another little life kick-in-the-pants I actually quite like to receive, while we're on the topic of "go grab life by the balls."

Seemed like a perfect time to post these song lyric prints found here. I've been wanting to make these for a long time and never knew the copyright infringement possibilities, but if there is something true to you and yours, let me know, because I'd love to create some Buttermilk beauts.

This one's for you, Allison

Enjoy the weekend! Lots of fun posts coming in the next few days.

Coffee With a Dash of Humility

print by MaryKateMcDevitt's etsy shop

This week I've been cranky. I am working a ton and just, well, getting a little burned out. I hate feeling this way. I am healthy (minus the trip to the doctor this week I am still trying to forget), happy, and surrounded by amazing people who inspire me all the time. Working till 10? Give me a break. It's not so bad.

Sometimes life throws you a big STFU slap-in-the-face, and I am more than okay with that. I'm tired. Big effing deal. My friend has cancer. And is in amazing spirits. His dad and wife are doctors. Somehow I feel like people who are related to doctors are somehow less susceptible. No. My friend had a pain in his leg just like I did for awhile before my back surgeries. It wasn't just sciatica. It was, it is, cancer.

I'm not going to preach about taking time to smell the roses or any of that stuff we already know, but I've been holding on to this photo and post for the last few days, waiting on the right time to post it, and now is the time.

We are so freaking lucky.

And that is what I will think about today. And tomorrow. Work shmirk.

Um, This Post Was Going To Be Awesome

And then it got even awesomer as I got photobombed by my cat. Kinda. I was all hungry to post about The Best and Easiest Salad Ever that AAAD Reader Amelia introduced the Monday Night Girls to, but as I lined up the ingredients on my counter, Bert came up as he was clearly captivated by its deliciousness as the ingredients just sat there, covered. This salad is powerful. He has not even tried to jump on the kitchen counter in my new place until tonight. Glad he went right for the stove burner. That's an accident waiting to happen.

These photos are terrible but I'm just gonna keep it real and post them. You only need 4 ingredients for this beaut. Most important is the God of All Salad Dressings (yep, there is one.) All hail GIRARD. I can actually eat these ingredients together as a meal and not want to jump into a bread bowl right after. Yeah, well that's not really true considering how I literally mutilated a Sea Salt Ciabatta LOAF from Whole Foods along with it. But I'm just sayin' you can make a meal out of this.

Anyway, this salad is awesome with just 4 ingredients and a whole lot of taste. If you're looking for some other low-maintenance recipes, you might want to check out these 3-ingredient recipes from the latest Real Simple. I need to make that watermelon salad, stat!

Happy Eating!

TV Trifecta Tuesday

OMG last night I had a lot of work to do but set up shop at the dining room table and wow, working is way more fun with a glass of wine and awesome tv on! I soaked up every drama-and-cute-clothing-soaked moment of: 1. Pretty Little Liars. I am BEYOND loving this show and glad I'm not the only one. You SO need to get caught up! 2. Make It Or Break It. Duh, I love gymnastics and this show is a ton of that but so much more. and 3. Obviously, The Hills/The City/The Afterparty. The actual episode was a snoozefest but I did enjoy the montage scenes. I love a montage!

Just looked on Twitter and PLL is a trending topic. I also love the font that the title is in. Seems to be a mixture of a few pretties. I am obsessed.

Tune In Next Tuesday!

WOW

My dear friend and amazing photographer Melissa Darst just photographed none other than TRISTA and RYAN's adorable family. You are going to need to read about it all right here because trust me, it's worth it.

Congrats to Melissa on a big opportunity! That is one good looking family.

Hot Photo Deal at CVS

Right now you can receive a buy-one-get-one free on all 4" x 6" photos you print at CVS. So, if you are like me, and haven't actually printed a photo in the last 3 years, get 'em together and upload! They are only 19 cents each, so 19 cents for two through July 26th. I seriously printed 200+ via Shutterfly a few months ago, and the quality was great there as well. It's amazing how much friends appreciate REAL photos. Perfect surprise in an actual hand-written card, another surprise in itself. Fridgeworthy!

Must print this one of my parents' cat Benny on one of his favorite spots.

Summatime project!

Come On Fall!

I am glad the rain seems to be "SO over" like LC and Jason, but now it's back to being a schvitz in Dallas, which makes me even more excited for fall. And then the excitement just continues as I think about all things back-to-school, plaid, layered, and these gray pumps that I must purchase immediately. I will just stroke them, pet them, massage my pretty little pet pumps until October comes around and I wear these every day with something plaid, pretend again I am still in school and dream of recess.

July. Meh.

From A Teenage Weekend to A More Mature Post

Nerd alert, but it's time for some logo love. This article, 23 Brilliant Logos with Hidden Messages, is worth your time. It's way beyond FedEx.

I looked at my Roxy sweater that I am wearing today and stopped to check it outttttt. The Roxy logo is made of two Quiksilver logos that form a heart. Super cool!

Nerdery.

A Weekend of Teenage Fun: Part 2

I am not going to lie, I shop the Pink line at Victoria's Secret regularly. Some of my friends are super loyal to Gap Body, but I am just going to continue to surround myself with hearts and brightly-colored patterns, sequin, suggestive sayings on boyshorts, and all things aimed to girls 16-24 as long as I am still "in my 20's" (few more months on that, and honestly, I am not promising this is going to stop once my age starts with a "3". OY!). Anyhoo, every few weeks or so I will stop into VS and see what sort of new patterns and fun they have in the Pink line. This is a good time to go pink. That sounds weird. Very fun patterns and as always, mix and match the fun for 5 for $25. I can honestly say I have yet to find a more comforable thong than this one.

I also bought clothes (not just sweats which they offer a TON of) this time, like this skirt in polka dot and a very cute dress I can't find online but is super adorable. It's more fun to shop in store than online, so go check it out. I dare you not to find something you don't need but must have.

Also, I have graduated but I love a lot of the collegiate bling they have, and this season's UT stuff is super cute. Find your school here. I bought these for a friend last year (in the LONGHORN! version) and found them completely hilarious.

Happy Shopping!

A Weekend of Teenage Fun

Ok, so in case you have been living under a rock, or God forbid, acting your age, you'd know that The Hills is calling itself dunzo on Tuesday night. I have been working a ton this weekend, but still that didn't stop me from watching a good 7+ hours of this trash that I love.

I always laugh with my BFF Katie about Kristin Cavalleri and her "laissez-faire" approach to dudes. Katie and I often ask ourselves WWKCD and remind ourselves to "Be breezy" and not obsess like KC was/is so good at. Replacing Kristin with Jesus in the aforementioned acronym? Sorry, readers, but I am ok with it.

I can't believe how much the girls' looks have changed. Obvi Heidi is an alien version of her former self, but let's not just cruise right over S-Pratt and her 180 as well. Whit, you've always been squeaky clean. I will never forget (lame) your poise when falling on national TV in Hilary Swank's famous gown.

For all of you as honest with yourselves that you enjoy this show as me, here's a quiz about The Hills, here are some old photos, a look at the cast then and now, and one of my own favorite posts here about The Hills.

Also, while I have endured waaaay too many Rhapsody, Clean N' Clear, and other bad commercials, I have enjoyed the promos for "If You Really Knew Me" on MTV which looks like a real-life version of the "Come to Jesus" (TWO Jesus references in one post?) scenes in Mean Girls. If You Really Knew Me Trailer: "Take a look at MTV's new series 'If You Really Knew Me,' premiering Tuesday July 20th at 10/9c." This looks good enough for me to continue watching tv aimed for people who have waaaay more drama and wayyyyy more of a parental-supplied allowance than I still do.

And is anyone else watching The Real World this season? BANANAS!!!!!!! So much more at mtv.com.

Tune in Tuesdays!
