I vowed to never wear shorts outside of a gym since the day I graduated high school. Everything fit so much better back then, didn't it? Since shorts got shorter and my legs got paler, there just hasn't been the right pair out there. I've just either looked Bad In Bermudas (even though I do love Bermudas, not that there's anything wrong with it) or had to battle that inner-leg sweat brought on by The Sundress. Well, ladies, I've found a solution. The Ann Taylor Loft Twill 6" Shorts. NOTE: my legs do not look like the model's. BUT! These shorts really work. (Tested for three weeks in a row now.) They aren't too short, aren't too tight (their stuff runs a little bit big, which I love) and don't make me feel like I'm trying to uncomfortably squeeze into anything at Abercrombie (more on that later). These are reasonably-priced and come in four colors. I'm definitely going back to get more. See you at the park, rockin' these!
Hope you're having an awesome weekend! Pia The Pig
Time to head to the Allen Premium Outlets! Between now and April 16, the retailer is granting Guilt-Free Shopping, meaning when you buy three or more items from the factory store, you will receive 50 percent off their entire purchase. If you buy one item, you get 30 percent off, and if you buy two items, you receive a 40 percent discount. Start there and let me know what you find!
Bonus: I've had great luck at the Coach and Puma outlets. Triple threat!
Thanks, Lauren for the tip! You're awesome. Pia The Pig
Last night was game night at my house. Always a winner. Ha! Winner. See what I just did there? Anyhoo, we served it up 90's style, with 90's Trivial Pursuit (how literal) and my family's 90's dinner staple: The Stouffer's Lasagna. This entertaining duo is a no-brainer. You can even "micro-cook" (half microwave/half oven) heat up the Italian delight if you are running behind like I always am. Throw together a salad, and you've got yourself a hell of an evening.
Trivial Pursuit is a classic in itself, but as proved last night, more awesome when you work in teams. We had two groups of four. Worked out well, so I was only 25% responsible to come up with the history answers.
Speaking of classics, we quoted this Seinfeld epi about 37 times by the end of the night. Seinfeld + Trivial Pursuit + Stouffer's = 90's good times that work well into 2009.
These. Are. Adorable. I bought these a couple months ago and now they are only $14.99! The heel is great and these seem comfy so far. They come in four different colors!
I went up to a 9 and I am normally an 8.5 or 9. Get 'em while they're hot and before every other gal at the office has them. Bonus: wedges add calf muscles, or at least the illusion you've been doing waaay more squats than you really have.
Thanks to my Mentor for Life/Godbrother, the mighty-talented and wise, Jeff Savage:
When you wake up in the morning, approach life as little victories. Look at the everyday events that have a positive impact on your life.
He reminds me, as I tell him my plans for the night,
Small things. Like putting the top down after work. You have a car that actually has a top that goes down. You have friends to hang out with. You have a club to listen to music at. You have memories of Austin. And you have a smile and laugh that lights up the room.
Sometimes it's such a "duh" to see what sunshine is right in front of you to grab ahold of.
Welcome, friends. I'm back from my back surgery and have never been more appreciative to be out running around (or walking carefully), and enjoying life. It's about time I pay homage to all of the delicious and delightful gifts around me. So, here you will find links, recipes, rants, raves, ideas, photos, and a Muppet reference or two, all designed for us to all have a bit more fun and be more inspired in '09. Cheers, Pia The Pig
