Hello my lovely readers. I am thrilled to announce this is the 500th post here on An Awesome A Day! I started this blog a year ago in an effort to share some great finds with great friends. 500 posts later, I am thrilled and more excited than ever to continue to find one thing a day that hopefully makes you smile, laugh, and simply take a break for a few. Thank you so much for reading and so much for sending me such awesome links all of the time. Please, if you could, be a doll and let me know you are reading by leaving a comment or choosing to become a follower.

Oh God Help Me, I'm Going For It!

My 88-year-old vertebrae and I have been fighting the urge to try these new-fangled "shape up" tennis shoes for quite some time. Well, after walking around on vacation for so long that I could barely walk and one doctor visit later, I figure, why the hell not? While the Sketchers brand and Reebok Easy Tones have the highest awareness level, the Avon Curves brand are half the price and have incredible reviews. Well, cut to my weekly Payless email and I figured, let's see what they have. The Payless offering by Champion has even more incredible reviews, and for $39.99, plus their famous (or just simply annoyingly named) BOGO deal, means I must at least give these a try and perhaps get a pair for Mom to try as well. You can't go wrong with alllllll of these 5-star customer reviews.

So, sorry Fashion Police, my calves and lame-o back problems are going to give these pups a try.

I wish these looked cooler but hey at least I won't be saying that about my calves. Stay tuned for my own customer reviews.

Love These Pantone Storage Boxes

Nerd Alert! I've been slowly but surely getting my home office up to snuff, and although I have always been too cheap (even with my love for design) to buy matching storage boxes for all of my stuff, I think I owe it to my Art Director self and my office built-ins to snag up a bunch of these awesome Pantone Storage Tins. According to the website, "these colorful storage tins turn your “stuff” into “style.”" Use them in the office, the kids room or anywhere you want to get organized and add color. Approximately 12” x 9” x 5”. SOLD!

Seven different colors. I just might have to get them all.

I can hardly CONTAIN MYSELF.

Flats For A Flat Fee!

Today I am wearing my officially-broken-in (after just one wearing: feat!) Target floral flats and I must say, these are some of the most comfortable shoes I own. I have been, ahem, blessed with a giant cranium (see future hat posts) and wide feet (thanks, Mom!) and these shoes are the perfect width and perfect size. I picked these up for under $10 in an impulse buy (like it counts if it's under $10) and thought they'd be perfect to add some color and delight to an otherwise blah outfit. Well, boom! Now they are on sale for $8 at Target.com and what delight to see that there are LOADS MORE COLORS AND STYLES ALL AT $8. HELLO BACK-TO-SCHOOL (or just the office on a Monday) 2010 FLAT!

Here they are in multi/gold:

GOLD SEQUIN: 8 BUCKS, PEOPLE!

Is there anything cuter than a black tee, blue jeans, and a red flat? NO.

And finally, black patent, because THAT SURE DOESN'T GO WITH EVERYTHING.

These were on clearance for less than $9 and are simply fabulous. I have been blessed with a giant cranium and wide feet (ahem, Mom) and these flats are just perfect. The price is right and they make a simple outfit much more colorful. Well, perfect day to post since they are on clearance for just $8 at Target.com. This Mossimo Odell line has a bunch of other great colors and styles, all for the perfect-for-fall-so-get-'em-now price. I am so glad that flats are still in because they are perfect for work and play and all things weekend!

Enjoy!

Sheer Love

Sick of the selection of home stuff from Target and Kohl's? There are some other places to look online! Here are a few gorgeous curtains from Urban Outfitters that are adorable and great for anything from a teenage room to a nursery to your first apartment to first home. Loving this Polka Dot Ruffle Curtain.

The Flounce Ruffle Stripe Curtain adds just the perfect bit of whimsy.

I've posted this Waterfall Ruffle Curtain before but now it comes in even more colors.

And I'm also loving this extra long Potpourri Curtain.

Too bad I don't need any window treatments in my new place! Do you?

Happy Shopping!

Paper Source + Pantone = Color Me Happy

If you are like me, they know you by name at your local Paper Source. Yep. Well, have you ever wondered which Pantone colors match your favorite Paper Source envelopes and cards? Luckily, there are two bloggers out there who have decoded this mystery with a little help from trial and error and Paper Source themselves. Although they aren't exact matches, they are pretty dang close. Since I reference these often, I thought you might enjoy them as well. Here's the helpful link at Kelp Designs and the discussion board at Wedding Bee.

Don't forget to visit the Paper Source blog and list of everyday ideas for fun inspiration! What's your favorite PS color? I am using Strawberry on some birth announcements now. So juicy!

I Scream For AWESOME!

I recently returned from a great vacation in Denver which will be a few blog entries on its own but one thing that was so great about the trip was the fabulous ice cream I ate! It definitely made me want to have an Ice Cream Social at my house. Although, let's be honest, I've been craving an ice cream party ever since laying my eyes on this remarkably delicious DIY Ice Cream Sundae Buffet over at I-DIY.com.

But then, these two other ways of serving up ice cream caught my eye. So cute and so creative. I just might have to try. I am so close to writing "think outside the cone." Oh damn, there it was. Ah well. It's ice cream. Anything goes.

Check out these ADORBS Ice Cream Cone Cake Pops from of course, Bakerella.

And, AAAD Reader Anne sent me this adorable post from Christy's blog on how to make Ice Cream Cupcakes.

Love the idea and even moreso, loving those vintage ice cream cups from World Market.
I picked up a bunch of those over the weekend and even gave some as gifts. 6 cups, with lids AND wooden spoons, less than $2. Total summatime score.

These look so incredible! But remember, if you can't take a bite out of ice cream...
