The Muppet Movie + Inflatable Movie Screen + Picnic + Free = AWESOME!

Most of you out there know how much I love me some Muppet. I'm thrilled that AAAD reader Dustin let me know about the Frisco Square "Movies in the Square" kicking off tonight. The Muppet Movie is playing! Some of these movies even have themes. The October Sky movie night even has a rocket launch and display! June 26. That sounds so cool.

Apparently this summer, everyone around Big D (and probably America) is pulling out the big screen and doing it up free movie in the park style. I love it! Free family fun and yet another reason to bust out the picnic recipes. So throw the picnic in the bike basket and let's do this.

Summer Nights + Movies + Cool Breeze = Awesome Change of Pace

Start popping the popcorn, and pass the Milk Duds. It's time to watch some movies outside. Tonight I am stoked go see Twilight under the stars, and with a cooler night at a pleasant 63, it sounds like simply a great night to take in a flick outside. If you're not into Twilight, tonight is also another Movies Under The Stars event at Hotel Belmont. Pack your picnic blanket and enjoy National Lampoon's Summer Vacation for free on the big screen at the Belmont Pool. Learn more about Belmont Hotel Movie Night here. I'm definitely heading there on July 1st to see Airplane.

Also, AAAD reader Lynn passed along the news of Central 214's Sunset Movie Series In The Courtyard on Sunday nights. Also free, these movies have a specially-themed meal for each movie available for purchase. This Sunday night's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is sure to be deliciously awesome. Learn more here.

Finally, the best kept secret in town...it's time to tell you about the Galaxy Drive-In Theatre. WHO KNEW this still existed? It's about 20 minutes or so from downtown, and so worth every penny of gas. Admission is only $6 and you can stay for the double feature. TWO NEW MOVIES FOR $6. $2 for children 5-11, and kiddos under 5 are FREE. HELLO! Even more spectacular is that the hamburgers are only $2 and the corn dogs $1.50.
Did I mention they have corn dogs? And mini golf? Pack up the kiddos for a night of fun. I haven't been since I got the convertible and I'm pretty much dying to go right now. It's such a throwback with the original concession videos that you just may feel like a kid again. Or at least a Sandy or a Danny.

Have fun out there!

June. Let's Make It Awesome.

Happy June everyone! It's a Monday, a new month, a summer one nonetheless, so let's kick it off right. If any of you have been reading my Facebook updates, you'll know that I am officially having a summer fling with watermelon. (Wow, that screams "I'm single!") Anyhoo, I can't get enough watermelon lately. Maybe because it's messy, or refreshing, a pretty color, or easily-ish malleable into all sorts of fun shapes. (Make the fun smiling watermelon bowl seen above.) Regardless, it's yum. Here are some great looking watermelon drinks and fun that I can't wait to try, all from simply searching "watermelon" on the awesome blog, Tastespotting. Who's ready for a carving party?

Watermelon Lemonade!

Watermelon Mimosas!

Watermelon and Mint Ice Cubes. Cool!

Prosciutto Wrapped Watermelon With Bel Paese Cheese. Fancy!

Awesome New Stamps

Doh! These Simpson stamps make the new 44centers seem quite okay. I love 'em! Grab a book or seven here or at your local P.O.
I got an extra book for my awesome dad, who helped me start a stamp collection at the ripe ole' age of 5. (Shout out to DAD! YOU ARE AWESOME!)

Also, I am loving these beautiful king and queen stamps. Adorable for wedding invites, or just anything needing a regal touch. And let's be honest, what doesn't need a regal touch? Okay, maybe the electric bill, but whatevs...get 'em anyway.

Send an I Love You card to someone today!
