Self-Indulgent

I got 8 actual hours of sleep last night and have energy like I got at least 9 or 10. Being a goose today. TGIF!

Must Love Awesome

Last Friday night I stumbled upon a show in my tv guide called Must Love Cats on Animal Planet. This show is awesome. Hosted by my obvious soulmate, John Fulton, he travels the country looking for amazing cats and cat lovers (and then sings a song about them, an odd yet endearing bonus). Here are some of the videos from that episode. I am obsessed with Cooper The Photographer Cat as well as the Klepto Kitty, which I learned about last weekend well before that video went viral this week. Yeah, my point is, I'm on top of cat trends before Perez Hilton. That's class right there.

Check out more videos on the site, like The Fur Kids.

Needless to say, I'll be DVRing the crap outta this show.

Have an awesome Friday!

Let's Lighten Things Up Around Here

Sarah wouldn't want us to be sad. Let's liven and lighten things up around here and post something that'll make us have a Coke And A Smile.

How about The 30 Best Pictures From Backstage Of The 135th Annual Westminster Dog Show? That'll work.

And if not, these Valentine Cats and much more awesome from Jane Foster on Etsy sure will.

Hope you're having a great, sunny day! Onward!

The Greatest Love Story Of All

Happy Valentine's Day, my loved friends and readers. I love Valentine's Day. I love red and pink and hearts and candy and a reminder for us all to express our love to all of the angels who grace our lives.

It's with a heavy heart that I blog today as a dear friend, a total stranger to me yet not a stranger at all, Sarah, will celebrate this day of love as most likely her last on this earth. Her husband's blog post today is simply beatiful and perfect for a topic that is usually anything but. Their fight together was through sickness and in health and 100% together, hand in hand in devotion. How fitting that today would be the day that Sarah starts her life with God in Heaven, as she leaves a legacy to those who knew her and strangers who were inevitably touched by her story of awesome grace, courage and love. There were over 141,000 hits to her site as of today. How awesome to inspire so many by your selfless, brave, Godly life.

There are a lot of amazing comments on the blog, and I will repost this from another reader.

"Don't weep at my grave,
For I am not there,
I've a date with a butterfly
To dance in the air.
I'll be singing in the sunshine,
Wild and free,
Playing tag with the wind
While I'm waiting for thee."
-Author unknown

Sarah's special phrase is below. I will continue to repeat it to myself as I encounter life with a "How would Sarah shine through this?" attitude.

Please take today and each day to share your gifts with others and to truly let those in your life know that they help you shine your brightest.

With immense love,

An Awesome Day

Today was a great day to spend with family, my five Valentines, and thank God for a gorgeous day and for giving me such an amazing family who are also my friends.

I made this casserole (which was AWESOME!!), a banana bread recipe that I will share, and Mom and Dad brought a great fruit salad. My brother, sister-in-law and nephew came over too with gorgeous roses in hand. We had brunch, exchanged valentines (my nephew got a $10 bill and was waving it around as if it was a million bucks), and then walked to the great playground by my house, where we watched my nephew Jack play as we visited and even hit the swings together.

Then we returned to my house to decorate a big heart-shaped cookie cake. Great times.

The little things mean so much more than all the crazy stuff we all buy for each other. Trust me, I love that, too. But giving each other our precious time really meant the most. Sure I had stuff to do but nothing was going to stop me from swinging next to my mom like we were Jack's age again.
