Along with the same robe, same glitter mascara, and a few other birthday goodies for Jasmine and Katie, I gave these Heart Print Knee-High Socks to Katie which I also snagged up for myself.
At $2.50, these have "I spent way more than $2.50 on these" written all over them. Forever 21 is A GREAT PLACE FOR PRESENTS.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!
Today marks the 30th birthday of someone whom I totes LYLAS, Katie! Katie and I met my sophomore year of high school in the small gym at J.J. Pearce High School as we joined the other girls interested in playing JV Soccer. We've been awesome teammates ever since. Here are some pics of us goofing off on our recent superfun road trip to Denver.
Us.
I wrote this in Katie's birthday card: “There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.” -Sophia Loren
Katie, we will always be seventeen in our hearts, running around in the fall chasing soccer balls and soccer boys, blasting DMB, feet hanging out the window of your car, laughing so hard we are crying. You have brought me so much awesome.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASMINE!
Happy Birthday to my awesome, gorgeous, fun, funny, and talented sister-in-law Jasmine who I would TOTALLY choose as a friend if my brother didn't find her first, like seventeen years ago! Jas, I have known you over half my life and the second half has been way more awesome now that you are in it. We all love you so much. Happy Birthday!
And today would have been my grandmother's 98th birthday. Love.

A Picture Worth A Thousand Words
LOVE THIS. I found this on eject, which is my new favorite blog besides my BFF Katie's. When Katie sent me the link to eject, I read the entire blog from its entirety. Katie and I were discussing that we need a word for that. When you find a blog that you love so much you read page after page after page to get caught up. I said, "How about backblog?" i.e. "I backblogged it." Well, I backblogged the shit out of eject. I think you will greatly enjoy it, too.
Enjoy.

Are You Ready For Some Football?
I AM! Summer is winding down and everyone (or at least a lot of us) are gearing up for football and all things fall. Football is big in Texas and even bigger in Dallas. So, while I am loving all of the Victoria's Secret Pink Collegiate Collection, I think it's a great idea that they introduced an adorable NFL line as well. Here are some of the Dallas Cowboys looks.
You can shop for 12 other teams here. I think it's hilarious that only the Dallas Cowboys line has the "Pretty Girls" boyshorts.
Super cute!
Go Cowboys!

Two Awesome Party Ideas
While we are all oh so ready for the summer temps to get the hell outta town, there is still time to throw some summer celebrations. Poolside, perhaps? Thanks to Martha and her endless craft ideas, here are two nice little ideas to add even more oomph to your party.
If you're like me, you love pretty paper and have a good amount of scraps of it. Why not make some adorable butterfly straws for your next cocktail (or seven?)
Or you can make butterflies to stick on paper lanterns or even make your own mobile. The sky's the limit.
And, another way to use cute paper is to think back to 6th grade and these little jobbies (what are they called?!) and update them to your more mature, party-throwin' age to use as awesome topping holders for a sundae party?
I love this idea and will definitely be using it this weekend for a little ice cream gathering I am throwing for some friends and their kiddos. Hey, maybe I will keep a few empty and kick 'em old school for some party fun.
These were two of the great ideas I found from Martha's 60 Summer Crafts.
What do you do with your old paper? Share some ideas!

And The Winner Is...
This is officially post #501 so it's time to reveal the winner of my Send Me Your Awesome contest. It's a tie!
Meghan made her Coca-Cola cake after reading my Dr. Pepper cake post, and I must say, it was one of the most delicious things I have eaten this year. Meghan was nice enough to share her amazing recipe with us. Let's celebrate the almost end of summer with this deliciousness.
And...not to be outdone, Angie sent me a heads-up of this fabulous t-shirt at Target that combines Kermit The Frog and an awesome meter. I mean come on, how appropriate is this?
Fantastically awesome submissions, ladies. And now, for the prize. Since both of you have daughters (Angie has twin girls), I thought this other fantastic t-shirt find at Target would be just the ticket. You may select your choice of one of the following tees for your daughters.
Infant Toddler Girls Madonna tee:
Infant Toddler Girls Aerosmith tee:
Infant Toddler Girls Run DMC tee:
Meghan, I know you will pick the Madonna one if you haven't already bought it. And if you would rather have a prize in your own size, you just let me know. I won't tell the girls.
Congrats and thanks to all of you for sending in awesomes.
Onward to the next 500!
