I went to Target earlier for essentials like milk, eggs, and new adorable spring wedges. I really was not planning on purchasing anything but household needs but obvi, it's Target, I spent almost two hundo.
These shoes are SUPER cute, comfy, supportive, and appear to be real leather even though they aren't.
I bought them in black and brown (they also have pink and nude online) figuring I'd decide which one to keep later, but as you know with adorable Target shoes, you must snatch up. I normally wear an 8.5 or 9 but got an 8 in these. They run big. You will need these for spring. Trust me.
What a great find if I do say so myself.

The Queen Of Awesome
Lady Gaga released the title song of her new album, Born This Way. The first few seconds in, I was dancing in my car, my ears having a hot mess dance partay. As soon as I got back to my computer, I bought it and blasted it on repeat for the rest of the day. Say what you want about Gaga, the girl is an icon. And the lyrics in this song are anthemic. I'm thrilled to know in my heart that this one song will prevent at least one gay teen suicide we had so many of this past year. YOU GO GIRL!
Here are the lyrics. PREACH!
Intro:
It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital h-i-m
Just put your paws up
'Cause you were born this way, baby
Verse:
My mama told me when I was young
We are all born superstars
She rolled my hair and put my lipstick on
In the glass of her boudoir
"There's nothin wrong with lovin who you are"
She said, "'cause he made you perfect, babe"
"So hold your head up girl and you'll go far,
Listen to me when I say"
Chorus:
I'm beautiful in my way
'Cause god makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way
Don't hide yourself in regret
Just love yourself and you're set
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way
Post-chorus:
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born this way
Baby I was born this way
Ooo there ain't no other way
Baby I was born-
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way
Don't be a drag -just be a queen
Don't be a drag -just be a queen
Don't be a drag -just be a queen
Don't be!
Verse:
Give yourself prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth
In the religion of the insecure
I must be myself, respect my youth
A different lover is not a sin
Believe capital h-i-m (hey hey hey)
I love my life I love this record and
Mi amore vole fe yah (love needs faith)
Repeat chorus + post-chorus
Bridge:
Don't be a drag, just be a queen
Whether you're broke or evergreen
You're black, white, beige, chola descent
You're lebanese, you're orient
Whether life's disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied, or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
'Cause baby you were born this way
No matter gay, straight, or bi,
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to be brave
Repeat chorus
Outro/refrain:
I was born this way hey!
I was born this way hey!
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey!
I was born this way hey!
I was born this way hey!
I'm on the right track baby
I was born this way hey

Embarrassing
EasyHealthyYummy
Never have three come together so well since TLC's CrazySexyCool. Until just now. I decided on the way home that I felt like some guacamole and remembered I had some red peppers in the fridge. After gathering a few ingredients and an impulse salsa (Miss Renfro's Peach Salsa, made in Fort Worth, TX) buy at the store, I decided to actually try the recipe on the salsa jar, which took 5 seconds and was awesome. Here's what I did and you should, too. I made enough for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow for myself.
Defrost some (5-6) frozen skinless boneless chicken tenders (I use these ALL the time and they defrost in about 3 minutes in the microwave). Dump about half the salsa jar over the chicken in a freezer bag and let it marinate 30 minutes or more.
Go lay on the couch or read a blog.
At least thirty minutes later, warm up a grill pan (you need one of these if you don't have one) and while it's heating, chop up a red pepper or two into strips.
Once the grill is warm, add some non-stick spray and the chicken and pepper(s). Cook for about 5 minutes, turning the chicken once, and you're ready to go! I paired this with some blue corn chips and one of these amazing 100-calorie packs of my favorite guac ever, Wholly Guacamole.
I added a tortilla under the chicken but this chicken is so tasty, you really don't even need it. Now I don't like spicy foods and this was not spicy, just flavorful. So, you can add some peppers, etc. as you wish. Salsa is a great marinate and healthy, too. Tonight's impromptu deliciousness was a great reminder that if you have no idea what to make, look on the package of something you like: salsa, soup, even pasta. If there's only room for one or two recipes on a package, you know that company thinks it better be good.
Hope you enjoy this one!

This Was Super
I went to a great Super Bowl party at friends Bill and Racheal's this weekend. You might remember their names from this post or know Bill from his Super Bowl commercials, Bridgestone's Whale of a Tale and Reply All, both big hits. Well I knew Doritos and Pepsi Max weren't gonna cut it at this party, so instead I whipped up (read: added a ton of real mayo and full-fat sour cream) to this amazing BLT Dip from Homemade Gourmet that I won at a party thrown by Amanda and Caroline.
Holy moly this stuff was amazeballs. Seriously, so good. I will definitely be ordering more of this. It was incredibly easy and a total crowd-pleaser. I added a bunch of tore up French bread and baby carrots.
While my dip and adorable set up are one thing, this spread by Eileen has me totally drooling. I'm heading over there next year!
What did you make?

Whoa
AAAD Reader Kim and I share a love of crafts and kitties (more on that later), and I was thrilled to find a little gift she sent to my inbox this morning: photos from an amazing store window (exact store unknown) from a trip to Toronto a few months ago. I have a penchant for store window displays and I guess I kinda like cats, so this is sort of AWESOME.
Thanks, Kim!

Hot Topics
Ever since I saw some mouth-watering donut-themed shirts in the window of Hot Topic a few months ago, I've been trying to squeeze my so-not-a-tween-anymore self into their graphic tees. Turns out, it's not that hard. They are actually decently-made and sized. Hello! Here are some new ones from their site that I definitely will be swooping up for spring. Because you know, nothing updates your wardrobe like new t-shirts for the 15-year-olds. Woot!
BESTIES! One shirt for me, one for you. Come on, it'll be like BE FRI and ST END.
I'm officially over the mustache trend but this is just hilare.
Also, I might just have to get this simply for it's winning use of combining Missy Elliot and Kermit, obvious Besties.
Two words. Marilyn Moncat.
And finally, for the boys. Old Spice commercial + friendly pickup line = this.
What's the hot topic?
