Some Awesome Money-Saving Tips For YOU!

Today I have some excellent money-saving tips for you! I had quite the successful errand-running little Saturday, and I think you might like to hear! First, I headed to DSW to look for some silver shoes for a wedding. Well, I found some adorbs little black ones by Nina (loads of great styles) and was happy to see they were pretty reasonable. Before I left, I of course headed to the clearance rack, where I found the exact same pair of shoes I wanted, these with a lovely red 30% label on them. The last two times I have been at DSW, the shoes I wanted from the front of the store were also in the back. So, I grabbed both boxes and headed to the front, where they of course, gave me the same shoes, now for 30% off. Savings: $15! Also, if you aren't already a member of their rewards program, it's definitely worth it. Last year I earned at $40 off coupon!

Then, I headed to Marshalls, where I of course loaded up on some new designs of those amazing $2.99 two-sets of recyclable totes. Love them! I also took a peek in the baby section where last time I found a Juicy sweatsuit for my friend for about a third of the price of the retail price tag still attached. This time, I found a bunch of SmallPaul by Paul Frank onesies that I can't wait to give away to some preggo friends! Total score. I am telling you, if you are headed to a Baby Shower, head to Marshalls first.

Next on my to-do's was a long-overdue trip to a Coinstar machine to turn in my piggy banks for some cash. OR, in this case, gift cards! I am sure you have loads of change (or even a little...it really adds up) lying around the house. Well, head to Coinstar, because now you can turn in your pennies for gift cards. There's no fee for counting, and the machine spits out a gift card right there and then. I split up my change and got a $17 card to Starbucks, $15 to Borders, $9.99 to iTunes, and $8 or so to the movies. So awesome. It's like Chrismakkah in February. Here's a list of all the places you can get the gift cards for, or you can pay a small fee and get CASH MONEY, HOS!

Overall, a great little few hours. Sure, I bought a pair of shoes and loads of goodies at Marshalls, but I walked away with a Starbucks card in my purse and felt oh-so-successful.

Happy Savings!

Because Great Type is Awesome

Loving this inspiring post on an awesome blog, 100LayerCake, on using type as a graphic element in your wedding.

My idol, Cheree Berry, is featured, of course. Her wedding was BEYOND.

More Olympic Awesomeness

AAAD Reader Dustin's cat was just as excited about watching the men's figure skating final as anyone last night. Dustin said his cat Bonnie followed the skater around the entire performance. Love it!

What An Awesome Performance

Tonight was the men's figure skating long program and I am so excited for Evan Lysacek and Team USA. Johnny had a simply stunning performance and Evan skated the program of his life to defeat the vile and horrifically-mulleted Plushenko. Now Evan and his good friend Nastia can share in the joy of being Olympic Champion BFF's. Evan's snake costume as well as his feathered frock he modeled in the short program were designed by Vera Wang. This video explains. How cool to be a part of the process.

Here's a very entertaining recap of last night, too. Gotta love it.

Congrats, Evan, Johnny, and Jeremy. You will forever be Olympians!

Awesomely Fun Wedding Gift

I have been waiting to post about La Plates until the ones I got for AAAD Reader Matt arrived on his doorstep. I have a personal aversion to buying off a wedding registry (yes, I believe I can find more creative, personal presents than the slotted spoon...even though you picked it out), so I am always on the hunt for cool ideas. With La Plates, you can customize the design, font, and colors and choose from loads of cool patterns of melamine plates. These would make an awesome wedding, housewarming, or child's birthday present. Matt loved his and I am definitely ordering these for friends in the future. What do you think?

Johnny Weir and The Awesome U.S. Skaters

Are you loving the Big O as much as I am? No, I am not talking about anything related to Overstock.com or the phenomenon that is Oprah. It's Olympic time! I am soaking up all of the coverage (UniversalSports.com and NBCOlympics.com have done a great job) and finally tonight the men's short program danced all over my screen.

I am loving the costumes, the flair, the gayface, the bitchface, the mystic tan, and all that comes with men's figure skating. I am also quite enjoying the perspective on this blog. (Careful for spoiler alerts!) Go Johnny go!

Salads Can Be Awesome

I really do enjoy a hearty salad, especially when I load mine up with Nature Sweet Cherubs and Craisins...but anyhoo, I am telling you, this Girard's Champagne dressing is truly the best thing you can top your salad with.
You might wonder WTF champagne dressing might taste like. It tastes like awesome. I promise. Give it a try. Your taste buds and waistline will thank you. It's easy to find as well. Here are all of the flavors. I have only tried Champagne.

Bon Appetit!
