The Fair Rocked

God Bless Texas. The fair was great. Robin and I had a great time, but the highlight was watching our friend Tara belt out some country hits as she filled in brilliantly for her mom's band, Lantana. I'll take you through the day!

We started taking a ride on the Texas Star. 5 minute wait, not $14 like I thought. Nice view. Great way to start our afternoon of eatin'.

First food stop: corn dog. The photo is awful. The corn dog was amazing.

Next we walked around, people-watching at its finest, shopped, and of course, hit up the fried butter. Robin and I shared the garlic flavor (tasted just like garlic bread) and I got a fried Elvis (PB, honey, and bananas, of course). Woo hoo! The fried Elvis was a bit much, but nonetheless...fried.

Check out my inpulse-bought orange heart-shaped sunglasses!

Then I met Selena Gomez...

We said "Howdy" to Big Tex...

And then I won a giant banana!

And then ate a chocolate-covered frozen one. YUM!

What a delicious time. Robin, hope you enjoyed your first visit to the fair.

What did y'all eat there?

When in doubt, fry it!

Let's Put The Fry in Friday

Happy Friday from Texas! It's fall and I'm hungry and that means one thing: State Fair of Texas time! I can't wait to get some corn dog action (two junk food posts in two days-even I am impressed slashed grossed out by that) up in this. Luckily, my co-worker Glenn, put up this handy State Fair food rating point system.

Fried banana pudding? Have mercy!

My writer partner Robin and I are headed out now. Current temperature in Dallas: a perfect 74 degrees. And a fair-time bonus in '09: AAAD Reader and our co-worker Tara will be singing live on stage all weekend. Can't wait to support her. Ooh, I better plan ahead and leave two free hands to applaud. But where will I put my fried butter then? What a pickle. (Do they have fried pickles? I effing murder those.)

Updates and photos to come.

GOD BLESS TEXAS!

Are These Awesome?

Because I am kinda thinking yes. There's not much more that my mouth loves hugging more than a soft pretzel. Check out these Keep Pretzel Laceups over at Urban. I think I have to have them.

Have you seen any good sneakers lately? It's time for some new ones for moi.

Cats + Wigs + Coffee Table Books = Advertising To All My Incredible Case Of Being A CCL

That's Crazy Cat Lady to you.

Although, every time I think, "Wow, I should really find a boyfriend...but Bert is so nice and cute and never interrupts me. OMG I am a CCL! Help!," there's someone who blows me waaaaaaaay out of the water. Way out, people. That's why I am so pleased to see fellow CCL and J-named Julie Jackson and Jill Johnson publish this gem of a read: Glamourpuss: The Enchanting World of Kitty Wigs. OMG. Have a looksie.

This is one step away from a TLC reality show about Cat Owners and Their Crazy Adventures At Cat Shows (one of the most bizarre experiences in my life and favorite memories in Albuquerque) and I am oh so fine with it.

Order it here (Hanukkah and my half birthday are only a few months away!)

Thanks to fellow cat mom and AAAD Reader Lynn for the link!

Awesome Cuppycakes!

Cupcakes are huge right now (obvi), but check out these literally huge tall cupcakes via Sugarbloom Cupcakes along with a fabulous tutorial on how to make them.

I'm not sure I'd be able to eat anything I made that came out so gorgeous. Well...let's be honest. That wouldn't be a problem. Thanks Gina for the link!

And speaking of cupcakes, run on over to Sprinkles through September 19 to pick up these adorable Dallas Cowboys Blue Velvet cupcakes.

All proceeds benefit The Salvation Army. Every day during that promotion, one cupcake will be baked with a silver star inside it. If you find that silver star, you win a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Cowboy Stadium for two. And, your name will be entered in a drawing to win four tickets to the Thanksgiving Day game, and an autographed football.

Sounds like a win-win to me.

Happy Noshing!
